Understanding APA 7 Format

APA 7 formatting is simple and fast and easier to read; that's why it's preferred by so many academics. 

Follow these simple steps for your entire paper.

  • Times New Roman 12 pt (yes even headings)
  • Double line spacing (1.5 acceptable)
  • First line of each new paragraph indented.
  • No white space between paragraphs or sections, or before or after tables and figures.

Table and Figure captions precede the table or figure.

Secondary Sources

APA discourages the use of secondary sources unless the original work is unavailable

The annual summer rainfall in Timbuktu has increased (Boser, 2017, as cited in Brown, 2018).             
Boser (2017, as cited in Brown, 2018) stated that the annual summer rainfull in Timbuktu has increased.
